General Course Information
All event distances start and finish at the Kinloch Domain. The marathon and half marathon courses follow the Great Lake Trails, which feature lush forest and wetlands, waterfalls, beaches, and panoramic views of Lake Taupo and the snow-capped mountains in the distance from a series of lookouts. The 10km and 5km courses follow the scenic and varying Whangamata Stream Track.
All courses will be marshalled and marked with blue arrows and ribbons.
The courses are off-road trails and unsuitable for wheelchair users and buggies.
No dogs on the courses please! Supporters and spectators must not accompany runners and walkers at any stage during the event.
Aid stations, consisting of water, nuun hydration, Clif Bloks, and/or Clif Bars, are situated at Kawakawa Bay and the Orakau Car Park for the marathon distance. Another is at the top of Whangamata Stream for the marathon and 10km participants.
Unfortunately, there will be no aid station on the half marathon course due to the remoteness of the course — you must carry your own hydration and snacks.
Water, nuun hydration, and Clif Bars will be at the finish line, as well as the Total Sport traditional Speights beverage!
